2019 ORNG
90 PTS — Rick VanSickle
“This is consistently one of the best Orange style wines made in Ontario. This version is a blend of 65% Riesling and 35% Gewurz. The skins were left in contact with the wine for an incredible 243 days. It shows a cloudy/orange-y hue in the glass with an earthy/reductive nose that blows off with vigorous swirling. Underneath the funk, tangerine, grapefruit, citrus rind and ginger notes emerge. It’s tart and racy on the palate with orange skin, saline notes, grapefruit, subtle tannins and lemon zest. Mouth-watering acidity drives the bus on the finish. Orange fans will absolutely love this wine.”

2020 ORNG
“Trail’s ORNG wine is one of the benchmarks for the style in Ontario. As trippy as it gets. Interesting dried apricot notes, marmalade, lychee nut, marzipan, umami, and nectarine notes. It’s fully dry with evident tannins and complexity on the palate followed by citrus rind, earthy/savoury notes, dried orange peel and a tangy, bright finish.

50% Riesling, 35% Gewürztraminer and 15% Sauvignon Blanc. The skins were left in contact with the wine for ~8 months — 254 days to be exact. Begins with aromatics of candied oranges and eucalyptus followed by incredibly fresh mushroom on the nose. Well-integrated tannins meet with juicy acidity and deliver a dried apricot finish.
2021 ORNG
90 PTS — Rick VanSickle
The eclectic nose shows Mandarin orange, ginger, dried citrus, savoury herbs, lychee and marzipan. The tannins from all that skin contact are evident on the palate and adds some structure to go with tangerine, herbaceous notes, bright and tangy citrus, lychee nuts and juicy acidity holding everything together on a fresh, finessed finish. Pure sunshine in a glass.

More delicate notes from a lighter vintage. Equal parts nectarine and clementine aromatics followed by fresh field honey, guava, jasmine and savoury spice. Extraordinarily well-integrated tannins meet with juicy acidity on the finish.
